The African Union (AU) is proud to be the host organization for this fourth historic African Media Summit. As an organization, we believe in the "good in Africa" and are confident that the rebranding of Africa project will encourage a reopening of the excellent opportunities and possibilities of the new and emerging Africa.

The summit is coming at a time the Continent of Africa, has a dire need for a change in perceptions and impressions. The AU, ECOWAS, ABR, DAF, ACA, could not have picked a more opportune project and time to affirm its commitment to the positive portrayal of the Continent in its process of rebirth.
   
The role of the Media in this "Mission" cannot be over-emphasized. The media is the most significant segment of Africa society and must take a decisive and more committed position in Africa's Renaissance process.
The African Union is committed to being a part of this Renaissances.
